ADOPTED -Rita - 1 year old female. Westie Mix - Pn Death Row

Beautiful Rita was born on the streets. It is a very hard life for a pup on the streets. There is very little shelter and even less food. Her mother will have scavenged for as much to eat as possible, but if she couldn't get enough her milk would not have been nourishing enough .. and at these times Rita would have gone very hungry herself. It is also a very frightening place to grow up. As there is so little food the bigger dogs will attack the more submissive smaller dogs and even the pups so Rita would have seen, and heard a lot of fighting and a lot of the sounds of dogs in pain, and even dying.
Life wouldn't have been any betterfor Rita when she found herself caught by the dog catchers and put into their pound. These are 'storage areas' rather than shelters for dogs. There is still very little food and water and no care to speak of. Even worse these are shelters where dogs will be killed after a certain amount of time.

Rita's Death Date is 15th July 2013, so we have until 14th to find her a home and get this poor little girl out of that place.

As a charity that helps thousands of animals every year in various ways, we just do not have the resources or foster homes to take all the dogs from death row. All we and our network of rescuers/carers can do is visit the dogs every day, feed them and make sure they are well whilst we try frantically to find each one a home. We get all dogs ready to travel in the hope that they will find homes in time.

Rita is a gentle loving soul who adores the company of humans and other dogs alike. The shelter do allow people to take the dogs for walks and she loves the children doing this .. she loves the youngsters and the feeling is mutual. Rita would make a perfect family pet .. she has so much love to give and surely now deserves to have some love given to her in return. To have survived what she has shows such strength of character and now she needs that fight to be rewarded with a place she can call 'home' forever.
