BIA- IB

Wednesday, 10 April 2013

ADOPTED - Bia 2 year old female small/medium, brindle mixed breed needing a forever home.

Most of the dogs in Romania and surrounding areas are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them, there is also racism amongst dogs over there, yes you read right racism, the colour of the dog or cat can determine whether it lives or dies, black ones especially as they are deemed unlucky !!!

Bia was left to die on the streets and taken to the Radauti public shelter in north Romania. She was in a terrible state, she had Demodex a nasty skin condition.

The lady who runs the shelter spent a lot of time with Bia getting her back to full health again.

After being on treatment for a long time for the Demodex, as you can see from the pictures, Bia's fur has grown back and she is a beautiful, healthy little girl.

Bia would have died an agonising death had she been left on the streets.

Bia just loves the volunteers at the shelter and the lady who runs it. she adores being cuddled and fussed and is a very friendly happy little girl. She gets on well with the other dogs that she shares a kennel with.
She just needs the chance of that forever home.

FINDUS- IB

Wednesday, 20 February 2013

ADOPTED - FINDUS 5 month old male mixed breed medium size needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them.

Findus was taken from the streets to the Radauti public shelter by the dog catchers, no sign of his mother, left fending for himself. He is a shy but friendly little boy an gets on well with the other dogs in his kennel, which is just as well as there are up to at least 50 sometimes in one kennel area. The kennels are out side and the Romanian winters are very harsh indeed. Findus just needs the chance of a loving home, a public shelter is no place for any dog let alone a young one. It is not known what he is like with cats or young children, so a family with children over 7 would be advised.

Findus will be vaccinated to legal requirements for transport

PICK - SP

Thursday, 28 February 2013

ADOPTED - PICK:SP PICK 2 year old male small mixed breed needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them.

Pick was found wandering confused on the streets, going between cars and crossing the roads over and over again, he was in danger of being ran over.

He was picked up and taken to a private shelter, where he is now being cared for.

It is thought pick may have had an owner before, as he craves attention and cuddles and is not like most of the street dogs taken into the shelter.

He is a friendly loving little boy and gets on well with the other dogs and people and there is no sign of food aggression.

No one has ever came forward to claim Pick, so what he needs now is that forever loving home, with people who will love and care for him.

CASPER - IB

Thursday, 2 May 2013

ADOPTED-CASPER:IB 2 year old male possible bearded collie mix needing a forever home

This was the state of poor Casper when he was taken to the Radauti public shelter after being abandoned by his owners. His owners have obviously not looked after him properly as can be seen the condition of his coat, or this maybe the reason he was thrown on to the streets, because he has a coat that needs clipping.

This is just some of the fur that was  clipped. the lady who runs the shelter has taken him into her home to foster him until a family is found for him.

Casper is not happy in the shelter and the public shelters are horrible places, lack of funds, food rationed, too many dogs sharing one kennel, the list goes on. It is no life for any dog.

Casper is getting plenty of TLC in foster and his carer is gradually getting him to eat. He was that unhappy in the shelter he would eat and just stayed out of the way.

Casper is a loving boy and just needs time to adjust and trust again.

In the right home he will make a lovely pet and companion. Preferably an experienced dog owner and a family with children over the age of 7.

CARL - IB

Wednesday, 1 May 2013

ADOPTED in GERMANY-CARL ;IB 7 year old male shepherd cross looking for a forever home.

Carl was abandoned on the street by his owner, probably because he was getting old and was no longer wanted.

Left to fend for himself and fight for food. Living out doors and trying to find some where to hide and sleep in safety.

He was at risk of being beaten to death, tortured or hit by traffic.

Carl is now in the Radauti public shelter in Romania, not the best of places. Cold, under staffed, limited funds and sharing a kennel with up to 50 other dogs, food fights at meal times and fights for attention from the staff and volunteers.

Carl is a loving friendly dog and gets on well with other dogs, cats and children. Carl desperately needs to be in a loving home, a home where he can spent his tender years feeling wanted and loved.

R

BONNIE - AAFA

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

ADOPTED - BONNIE Croation shepherd approx 1 year old female, looking for that forever home.

:
Bonnie is a female Croatian Shepard dog approx. 1 and a half year old as the vet says. She was found in the late afternoon in a bare field in the middle of nothing lying in the snow covered field. A volunteer spotted her on the way home from work, stopped the car and came up to her. She was frightened and immobile. She brought some food unaware of her condition. As Bonnie tried to run away, the volunteer realised her leg was broken.

The volunteer picked her up, Bonnie didn't struggle, put her in the car and took her home. The next day Bonnie had an operation of her broken femur bone. The broken bone was fixated by a metal bar and has been taken out after a month. The recovery is going well, Bonnie is using her rear leg more and more every day. While walking slower she uses all four legs equally, sometimes she even uses the broken leg while running. Now it's been almost four months since she was found and for the full recovery she needs to walk as much as she likes for the muscle to strengthen. Though best would be swimming but at the foster home there are no required conditions. She has also been rabies vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed.

We guess she's been hit by a car or a truck and before that abandoned by the owner. First of all we think that she had an owner because her tail was docked as they do that in villages to Croatian Shepherds. One of the reasons why she has been abandoned is either she was too soft with the live stock or has been bred and after having a litter has been thrown out because not needed anymore, like they do with female Croatian Shepherds. These are common cases in the Croatian villages. One of the ways they get rid of the dogs they no longer need is by taking them to the woods and shooting them or tying them to a tree, luckily that wasn't her case.

Croatian Shepherds are very intelligent, easily trainable and completely loyal dogs to their owners which are all Bonnie's characteristics. She is a cheerful, playful young dog. She is calm and obedient inside and outside in the open. She doesn't even need a leash when taken for a walk because she follows your every step and looks up at you, never leaving your sight. She's friendly with other animals she lives with. She lives in a 40m2 apartment from the first day with one female dog and five cats. She invites the other dog she lives with for a play and cats feel free to come to her to cuddle.

All the residents are free to eat her food or drink from her bowl. She is not aggressive to any animals but she barks to other new dogs until she is completely confident in them and sure they won't hurt her. It's not an aggressive bark, it's more of a scared and insecure bark though if another dog approaches her she will hide behind her human avoiding the dog. After a few encounters with the same dog, when she gets to know him and when he gains her trust she will play normally with him. Though if you are in an open field with lots of dogs she will ignore them and will only bark when they are approaching. She is absolutely harmless. She is completely trustful to humans, absolutely loves them and loves to cuddle very much. She is a sweet, gentle, intelligent dog that deserves a really good family.

Blacky- APB

Wednesday, 20 February 2013

ADOPTED-Blackie approx 6 months old female possible lab cross needing a forever home

Blackie found starving on the streets when she was about 3 months old, her chances of survival were very slim indeed.

She faced starvation, being beaten, killed in fights for food or even killed for money.

Blackie is now in a shelter being cared for and slowly starting to trust people.

Blackie was skinny and terrified when first brought into the shelter. She is now gaining weight and getting over her fear of humans and becoming a very playful little girl, she is learning to trust again.

She gets on well with the other dogs in the shelter and will play with them. Blackie does have a limp as one of front legs has been broken, but it does not seem to hold her back.

Blackie should adapt easily to family life with a little time and patience. It is known how she reacts to children so a family with children over the age of 7 would be advised.

Blackie will be vaccinated to legal requirements for transports
