ADOPTED - Sofia - 1.5 month JagdTerrier ( German Hunting Dog) Cross in desperate need of a forever home

Sofia is a 1,5 year old female. She spent first half of her life locked away in a house. One day she saw her chance and ran off with another dog from that house, her friend Grim.
It was believed that they had gotten lost when they were found by rescuers but it is more likely they simply did not want to go back. In this country dogs are viewed as vermin and suffer the some of the worst cases of abuse you can imagine. Whether they were victims of abuse was unknown at this stage, and they were returned back to their owner as the streets really is not a place to be for any stray.
Especially as dog killing for some was a business and so it was thought better they are safe in their home than on the street.
However it was later found out that the owner did not care for the dogs what so ever, and the abuse certainly was prevalent. When Grim and Sofia one day had enough of the abuse and for the first  time stood up to their owner and growled back at him when he had cornered them and was beating them both with a bat, the owner decided he did not want dogs that one day may retaliate against his abuse and he dumped them back on the streets.

The pair had no where to go, had no idea how to survive outside and the temperatures were now below zero. Sofia and Grim were found again by rescuers but this time not as healthy as before. Grim was badly wounded, Sofia was nearby nursing her own wounds, both were trembling with fear.
They had been the target of a pack of dogs that resided in the area they were dumped in. This happens a lot in Croatia as the street dogs are literally fighting starvation every day and will fight to the death for a scrap of food. New dogs entering into that area are putting their lives on the line.
That day they had come across a pack of dogs, the pack first targeted Sofia ( Her wounds were less and more defensive wounds) but her friend Grim had defended her knowing she would most certainly have been killed (His wounds were more severe and on his leg he had clearly been mauled and dragged by the pack). This pair were together fighting to stay alive, helping and defending each other as true real friends do.
Grims  injuries were so bad that he was unable to walk for almost 2 months, as foster place is scarce in this country he was found an abandoned house where rescuers took him food and cared for him there. He was so miserable and felt so sorry for himself they brought Sofia to him , hoping to give him the strength to carry on. This worked and both have regained their full health and agility.
The pair to this day are still in that abandoned house, but the situation is becoming dire. The house is falling apart and the rescuers in that region have no where else to keep these two brave dogs. This is why our charity are hoping to help them, to find each one or together that perfect forever home.
Where they will never know abuse again, whether together or apart these two dogs really need a home of their own now.
Sofia is a very sweet brave little dog , she gets along very well with other friendly dogs like  herself and in actual fact is the protector of the house where not only her and Grim are living but also other dogs rescued from awful situations and from the streets.
When the rescuer ( who lives only a short distance away) sees Sofia at her back door she knows there is a problem, time and again Sofia will come to alert the rescuer when pup or another dog has got out of the house or if there has been some fighting amongst the dogs. This sweet brave little dog really is like a mother hen of the house keeping all the doggy residents under her paw and knows where to come when her fellow furry residents are in trouble.
Sofia is a friendly little dog, though at first she will be very shy until she learns she can trust you. From that point on she will be by your side loyal to the very end. She obviously was very badly treated by a human at some stage but with doggy training she has got over her fears and is more than ready to lead a wonderful life away from that country, away from the abuse she faces daily.

Unlike her friend, Sofia is more excitable on the lead, though for the most part she walks perfectly, but when she is determined to smell that special blade of grass that must be so different from the millions in front of her, or that tree and shrub she will tug a little. For the most part she is perfectly well behaved.

Sofia is:
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Spayed
DeFlead
DeWormed
Has her very own EU Pet travel Passport
