ADOPTED-HOLLY/Mimi 3 year old female mixed breed longing for a forever home.
Most of the dogs from Romaina and surrounding areas are either abandoned by owners who no longer want them, cannot afford to keep them any more, the bitch becomes pregnant, they steal food because they are not getting fed enough. Owners move house and leave dogs behind, the dog is getting old.
Dogs are also abandoned if start needing medical treatment and sometimes because they simply tire of them. Left to fend for themselves on the streets, starvation, beatings, hit by traffic, tortured the list could go on forever. Some dogs are caught by the dogcatchers and taken to a hell hole commonly known as a public shelter.
The shelters are under funded, understaffed and not very nice places at all, a dog can be in as much danger in these as they can on the streets, fights at meal times, attacks from other dogs as the shelters are so crowded and puppies are the most at risk, from the older bigger dogs. The lucky ones end up in the private shelters where they are looked after far better. There is also a colour issue, yes the colour of a dog or cat even matters, black is deemed to be very unlucky and a lot of animals this colour are cruelly beaten to death or tortured to death.
This girl has spent 2 out of the 3 years of her life in the Raduati public shelter, not the best place to be, no home comforts, not the warmest of places and fights regularly break out at meal times.
There can be up to 50 dogs in the same kennel at one time, their resources are limited, but they do their best with what they have.
Holly gets along with the other dogs and the carers at the shelter, but she needs a little time to trust strangers.
A home with older children would be better for Holly and some one with time and patience. Holly has the potential to be a very loving girl, but will need time to adjust and learn to trust the people around her.
