Holly/Mimi

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

ADOPTED-HOLLY/Mimi 3 year old female mixed breed longing for a forever home.

Most of the dogs from Romaina and surrounding areas are either abandoned by owners who no longer want them, cannot afford to keep them any more, the bitch becomes pregnant, they steal food because they are not getting fed enough. Owners move house and leave dogs behind, the dog is getting old.

Dogs are also abandoned if start needing medical treatment and sometimes because they simply tire of them. Left to fend for themselves on the streets, starvation, beatings, hit by traffic, tortured the list could go on forever. Some dogs are caught by the dogcatchers and taken to a hell hole commonly known as a public shelter.

The shelters are under funded, understaffed and not very nice places at all, a dog can be in as much danger in these as they can on the streets, fights at meal times, attacks from other dogs as the shelters are so crowded and puppies are the most at risk, from the older bigger dogs. The lucky ones end up in the private shelters where they are looked after far better. There is also a colour issue, yes the colour of a dog or cat even matters, black is deemed to be very unlucky and a lot of animals this colour are cruelly beaten to death or tortured to death.

This girl has spent 2 out of the 3 years of her life in the Raduati public shelter, not the best place to be, no home comforts, not the warmest of places and fights regularly break out at meal times.

There can be up to 50 dogs in the same kennel at one time, their resources are limited, but they do their best with what they have.

Holly gets along with the other dogs and the carers at the shelter, but she needs a little time to trust strangers.

A home with older children would be better for Holly and some one with time and patience. Holly has the potential to be a very loving girl, but will need time to adjust and learn to trust the people around her.

REA

ADOPTED-REA - 2 Year Old Croatian Shepherd on DEATHROW!

Rea is a 2 year old Croatian Shepherd who was abandoned by the owner, she was  dumped around 30 kilometers from her original home, since she was micro-chipped the pound found out..They contacted the owner but he never came to claim her back..It's possible that she is a dog with pedigree since she was chipped but probably was not good enough for breeding or something like that. She is as you can see super with humans and other dogs, shares a big kennel with lot of different dogs so and goes for walks regularly.
Death date: 1. October 2013.

As a charity that helps thousands of animals every year in various ways, we just do not have the resources or foster homes to take all the dogs from death row. All we and our network of rescuers/carers can do is visit the dogs every day, feed them and make sure they are well whilst we try frantically to find each one a home. We get all dogs ready to travel in the hope that they will find homes in time.

JASON

Monday, 1 April 2013

ADOPTED - JASON :male possible collie cross

Most of the dogs in Romania and surrounding areas are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them. There also racism in the dog kingdom believe it or not, yes you read right racism, many dogs and cats are abandoned simply because of their colour, black ones are deemed to be unlucky !!!.

Jason was abandoned at a veterinary practice when he was just a very young puppy. He spent the first few months of his life living in a cage.

He was then adopted by a family but after a while this did not work out as they could not give him the attention he needed. He then ended up in a mini shelter, where he has  been ever since.

Jason is a lovely little boy, loved by every one and he loves every one too !! he gets on really well with other dogs, loves fusses and cuddles. Jason has an enormous personality and would make a lovely family pet. He is full of energy, enjoys walks and literally just being with people. He deserves a good loving family home, where he can become part of a family and thrive and grow. He would suit an active, outdoor type family.

MARC

Wednesday, 29 May 2013

ADOPTED-MARK:AAFA approx 2 yr old mixed breed male, in foster in the UK needing a forever home.

This gorgeous little boy is Mark. Mark had the hardest start to life possible and only his strength of character will have brought him through it. Mark was born on the streets of Romania. It is very likely that his mother was 'owned' but as so often happens, was not spayed. Once she was found to be pregnant she would have been thrown onto the street as is so often the case. And, so, Mark will have been born a stray.

On the streets there is very little shelter and even less food. Marks mother will have scavenged for as much to eat as possible, but if she couldn't get enough her milk would not have been nourishing enough .. and at these times Mark would have gone very hungry himself. It is also a very frightening place to grow up. As there is so little food the bigger dogs will attack the more submissive smaller dogs and even the pups so Mark would have seen, and heard a lot of fighting and a lot of the sounds of dogs in pain, and even dying. He would have also known the pain and fear of being attacked himself.

Mark became safer when he was rescued and taken to the Radauti shelter. But although safe from cars and people life in the shelter is no fun for a small boy like him. The conditions are bad with little shelter from the heat of the sun, or the cold of the Winter months. Food is in short supply in the shelters and he will have yet again been low in the pecking order for filling his stomach, sharing a kennel with many other dogs, most of whom will have been far bigger than him. He would still have had the terror of seeing fights and have spent much of his time cowering out of the way of any trouble.

A short time ago Mark was brought over to the UK and is currently in foster. What is so amazing about this sweet little man is that despite everything he has been through all he has is love .. for people young and old, for cats and for other dogs. If someone new approaches Mark he is straight over to them, looking for fusses and affection .. and wanting to give as many kisses as he can get away with. When Mark is around treats he will sit back and wait to be given his, and he takes it with such gentleness, this despite the fact that he has had to scavange for crumbs all his life .. but that sums him up, he is gentle, sweet and loving which makes it even more sad that he had to suffer so much when he was younger.

He has got a very cheeky side of course. He is making up for the puppy years that he lost and loves to play. But even in his cheekiest times you can see in his eyes just how much he adores everyone and everything around him. He is well behaved on the leader and has good recall.

The only problem with Mark is that he seems to constantly want to find an escape route .. not because he is unhappy or happier as a stray, but because freedom is new to him and he seems to want to 'explore' it fully. He is not a dog who wants to run away from a home .. indeed when he does escape he just goes up to people wanting to say hello.

Of course, what he doesn't realise is that in doing this he is putting himself in danger. BUT, if he is in a secure garden and a member of his 'family' is there with him he is quite happy to play and stay around. It is when he is alone that he decided to try to find a way to go and find new friends.

So, it is essential any adopter has a very secure garden, is careful when opening doors out of the house and can walk him on the leader until such a time that his wandering ways settle down.
Mark needs a forever home desperately. He has all the love in the world to give and now needs to be able to give it to those who will return it for the rest of his life. he needs somewhere to settle down and have a place he can truly call 'home'.

MILLY

Saturday, 1 June 2013

RESERVED- MILLY - 1 year old female - Small Lab mix, currently in foster in the UK.

Milly is a lovely gentle girl who loves human company and company and
play with her four legged kennel pals as well. She is a very relaxed dog who
plods around the kennel just taking every day as it comes and making the most
of her situation.

Milly is one of very many dogs born in a shelter when their mothers were rescued off the
streets before any harm could come to them or their pups. This means of course that Milly
has been kept safe and away from the dangers of the streets but it is no life for a dog in the long term.
The volunteers at the shelter do what they can and spend as much time as possible with all the dogs,
but Milly loves human company so much she does struggle with being left by them when they have to go to see to all the other dogs they have to look after.

Milly desperately needs somewhere she can call 'home' for the rest of her life.
She needs to be with people who can give her the attention and love she desperately craves,
with as many tummy rubs and fusses as possible, because that is what she loves more than anything.
Milly is currently in foster in the UK, she follows her foster carers every where..

Milly is still a little submissive and does prefer the company of her female carer, though she is coming round slowly to the male member of the house hold.

It has took Milly a little while to come round to her foster brothers, but as you can see from the photo she has settled in rather well and quite likes to snuggle up them them for the odd snooze.

When Milly in the shelter there was cats around and she did not take any notice of them, she basically just ignored them.
Milly will need a little time and patience as she is still scared of her own shadow on times but her carers are helping Milly to build up her confidence. She uses the cat flap to do what she needs to do in the garden so she is a clean little girl. All she needs now is that forever home.
.

Milly is being fostered in Linconshire.

NICOLE

RESERVED-Nicole 7 month old female lab mix needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. This little girl abandoned in a box with her six siblings risking all of the above and being so young her chances were practically nil.

Luckily she is now in a private shelter being cared for and is a happy healthy little girl desperate for a forever home.

Black dogs are not popular as they are deemed unlucky in Romania, ludicrous really but it happens.

Nicole is a very active little girl and constantly trying to jump the fence, she is full of mischief so an active family is recommend for this one !! She is full of beans as they say.

She is walking on the leash well, enjoys human company and gets on well with other dogs too. Nicole would be a welcome addition to any family though children over 7 is advised.

Nicole just needs a loving family she can call her own and with being so young she should easily adapt to a home life and will enjoy training.

Nicole will be vaccinated to legal requirements for transport
