LORY

Saturday, 2 February 2013

ADOPTED - Lory – 1 year old female Vizsla cross Greyhound, starved by her previous owners and thrown to the streets at just 12 weeks of age, now looking for that loving home

This is Lory , a real sweetheart of a dog whose life began if a horrible way, as a small 12 week old defenceless puppy and unable to take care of herself she was cruelly thrown onto the dangerous and cruel streets in a place called Osijek, Croatia. This is awful enough, but when you learn that these same people who threw this then small pup onto the streets had not even fed her properly leaving her with the inability to walk properly as she formed rickets in her front right leg caused from malnutrition.

All this and then Facing sub zero temperatures, starvation and having to defend herself against the more hardened strays on the streets and the very real prospect if found by many of the humans there she could be tortured and killed for entertainment, this then small puppy did not stand a chance

Thankfully someone must have been watching over this little dog as a human did find her, crouched in a door way, just skin and bones trying to find some shelter from the icy cold winds. This human however was not an abuser ( as many are out there) this human was from one of the very few animal welfare shelters over there one that our charity helps when we are able.

Many who follow our charity know our primary focus is Romania, well Croatia, though does not have the high numbers of strays as Romania, the mindset is exactly the same. So when we were asked to help this wonderful little dog, how could we refuse?

Lory was taken by the rescuer to the shelter where she immediately was fed, warmed up and then taken to a veterinarian , after many months with the right food and vitamins, physiotherapy and exercise she has recovered brilliantly and she is ready to find her perfect forever home.

Lory considering her past is an incredible little dog, she gets on well every one, be it dogs, cats and humans. In fact when it comes to humans she cannot get enough of them, she adores the attention from them.

All this little princess needs now is that perfect home to call her own and a family who will love her as much as she will love them.

If you can offer this brave little girl a forever home please contact our charity as soon as possible.

BETTY

Monday, 4 February 2013

ADOPTED - Betty 8 month old Jack Russell cross already in UK needing a new home

Unfortunately Betty is back up for adoption, through no fault of her own. Her owners circumstances have changed and they can no longer keep Betty.
Betty was adopted back in June saved from the terrors of the streets of Romania.

This was Betty when she was a wee pup, she is 8 months old now and turning into a fine young lady.

This is Betty now, she is a very well behaved young lady, fully house trained, good around children, just loves the company of other dogs and of course she just adores human company.

Betty is very good on a leash, loves to go for walks but she can tug a little on the leash.

She is an adorable, playful little girl that needs a new home or at least a foster until a perminant home can be found for her.

She has all her vaccinations, an EU passport, Wormed and deflead.

MONA

Tuesday, 5 March 2013

ADOPTED - MONA approx 1 year old female mixed breed needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania and surrounding areas are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them.
Mona taken from a public shelter where conditions are not good, cold, drafty, out door kennels and fights at meal times. She is now in a private shelter where she is being looked after, the conditions are far better, though the shelter is a cold place, they simply ca n not afford to heat it, but they do their best in other ways to keep the animals warm, via donations of bedding, straw etc.
Mona has no issues with other dogs or people but does not like the shelter life at all. She needs a proper home, a loving home where she can feel wanted and loved. It is not known if she is ok with cats or young children, so a family wiht children over  the age of 7 would be advised. Mona just needs that loving home to call her own.

ARNOLD

RESERVED: ARNOLD:SP ARNOLD 6 year old lab mix male needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers.

Arnold was saved from being poisoned, unfortunately another cruel way on the streets of Romania for ridding themselves of strays.

He is now safe in a private shelter and looking for that forever home.

Arnold is a sweet boy reaching his tender years, he does not really want to spend them in a shelter. A nice warm family home with all the comforts a dog his age deserves, is what Arnold wants and needs.

He is a sociable boy, no issues with people or other dogs, though he does get a little anxious at meal times, so feeding seperately would be better if he goes to a family with another dog.

Arnold is quite happy to be fussed and have short walks, he does not need a lot of space, just a nice comfy sofa or bed to retire on.

Arnold just wants a nice quiet life and to be cared for as old age is creeping up on him.

Amadeus

Thursday, 14 March 2013

ADOPTED: Amadeus - 3 year old Giant Shepherd cross, special case needs experienced foster/adopter

Amadeus - Beautiful giant shepherd cross, still bares the mental scars of the torture he went through.

Amadeus - 3 year old Carpathian Collie Cross

With his best friend Smootchie
This lovely beautiful big giant of a dog is a special case. This dog has been through worst kind of abuses and yet still adores human company. However though physically he has healed the mental scars remain. Slowly but surely he is starting to trust again and loves his belly rubbed and his face stroked, but when frightened or took off guard by a loud noise etc he will turn and nip you. if he was a small terrier or a Chihuahua
this really would not be a problem.

However Amadeus is a huge dog and though he is just nipping you, his teeth are huge and so more damage can be done.

He really is not a vicious dog and will not go out of his way to hurt you. The few times he has nipped has always been when something frightened him or he felt threatened and was only for a brief moment. Again, we stress he is not an aggressive dog, just the cruelty and torture has has been subjected to means he will retaliate.

The boys during rough and tumble playtime
We refuse to give up on him, he really is just a big cuddly teddy bear ( with big teeth) and are desperately searching for experienced and specialised fosters/adopters of large rescue dogs.

If you have the experience, time and love to continue this big boys rehabilitation please do contact us. You will always have the full support of our charity behind you.

Amadeus is:
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Sterilised
Has full EU Pet passport

CHAZ

Tuesday, 5 March 2013

ADOPTED- CHAZ 2 year old male possible terrier/chiuahua mix needing a forever home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers.
This little lad was rescued from a hell hole of a public shelter, they can be nearly ass bad as living on the streets. Limited food supply, cold and very little comfort and not as much human contact as they need. The shelters rely on the good will of other people to help them feed the dogs and give them the care they need.
Chaz is now in a private shelter, which also relies purely on donations, but his chances are for better, he has more human contact and is getting fed regularly. Chaz desperately needs a forever home, he is a friendly little boy and gets on well with people and other dogs. He needs a warm secure home, some one to love him for the rest of his life.

Max was abandoned on the streets when he was only very young, and has since been in the private shelter. He is a lovely boy but shelter life is starting to affect him now. Max was a playful friendly boy when he first came to the shelter, but now he is starting to become withdrawn.

Max no longer wants to play and is showing signs of anxiety when it comes to meal times. He shares his kennel with 4 other dogs and gets on well with them and shows no signs of aggression towards them, Max desperately needs a loving home, he needs to be out of the shelter before his spirit is broken all together.

PIKI

Sunday, 20 January 2013

RESERVED - PIKI:IB PIKI 2 year old female small/medium mixed breed needing a forever home

Oh look at those ears !!! Piki was taken to the Radauti shelter about 6 months ago, it is believed she was dumped by her owners.

There are many reasons why dogs are dumped, no longer wanted, moving home, they can no longer afford to feed them, the dog having pups or maybe the dog has done something wrong in the home, it could be any one of the above reasons.

So now Piki has to live in an outside shelter with a make shift kennel to sleep in.

The shelter relies totally on donations and limted time and volunteers, they do the best they can with what they have, to give these dogs as good a life as they can in the hope they will find loving homes.

Piki is a well mannered little girl and loves human contact, she gets on well with the other dogs in her group.

This little girl desperately needs a loving  home and a family to care for her. It is not known how she is with cats or children, so a family with children aged 7 or over would be recommended.

Piki will be fully vaccinated, dewormed, deflead and chipped with her own EU pass port ready to travel.

She will be a great addition to any family. She's neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and has an EU passport.

FATMA

Thursday, 4 April 2013

RESERVED - FATMA mixed breed female approx 3 year old in desperate need of a loving home

Most of the dogs in Romania are either dumped on the streets, dumped in public shelters which are horrendous places, born on the streets having to fend for themselves and face all kinds of dangers. Starvation being the biggest, beatings, torture, being hit by cars or even killed for money. The streets are a cruel cruel place especially winter time. Some also suffer horrendous cruelty from so called animal loving owners and the lucky ones are taken to private shelters where they are looked after until homes can be found for them, there is also racism amongst dogs over there, yes you read right racism, the colour of the dog or cat can determine whether it lives or dies, black ones especially as they are deemed unlucky !!!

This beautiful little girl was taken to the Radauti public shelterby the dog catchers just under a year ago.

She is a sweet little girl if a little shy on times or until she gets to know you.

Fatma's experience of the shelter has not been a happy one, but then the public shelters are not the best place to be, under funded, under staffed too many dogs and not enough food to go round, fights regularly break out at meal times and the it can be a case of only the strong will survive.

Fatma is now in foster in Romania after being attacked by the other dogs in her kennel. Fatma would protect the smaller and younger dogs but not herself. She ended up with a broken leg after the attack, which has now been seen to by the vet. Fatma also has dermatitis at the moment but is under going treatment for this. She will stay in foster until she is  fully recovered or adopted, which ever comes first. She is an adorable little girl that gets on well with other dogs for all she has suffered in an attack from other dogs, she has been tested with cats and does not seem to be bothered by them at all. She enjoys being around people and children, if a little shy at first until she gets to know you. All Fatma wants is a loving home to call her own.
